Established in 1852, Auckland War Memorial Museum is one of New Zealand’s leading cultural institutions.

In 2009, they developed an exhibition called “Wonderland: The Mystery of the Orchid”. A main feature of this exhibition was an interactive touch screen application in which the user could create their own orchid by “hybridising” a number of elements beginning with the choice of parents. Once the orchid was complete, the user could take a snapshot and email it to themselves or a friend.

Bringing my design background and an eye for detail to the development team, I built user interface components, including the touch circular sliders component and assisted senior developers. This project also involved the use of particle effects, and was an ideal opportunity for me to learn and utilise WPF, C# and XAML.
